Frequently asked questions
Q. What Should we wear?
A. Wardrobe choice is the most popular question I am asked. All in all it's up to you! Everyone wearing black shirts and tan pants/white shirts and jeans/ etc the aka "the uniform look" keeps the focus on the faces in a portrait. Don't feel as though you have to wear a uniform to have beautiful portraits. You can wear complimenting colors that show off your sense of style and great personality making for a wonderful photograph. If you have focus on one person in the group such as a birthday, have that person wear a color that makes them stand out, while the rest of the group wears neutrals.
Q. What if my child throws a fit? I'm afraid it will be a waste of time and money...
A. 90% of children I photograph throw fits during my portrait sessions. What is great about hiring a professional photographer is that I am accustomed to it. As a photographer I am patient, flexible and have perseverance in any situation. In my experience I have learned ways to work with children who want nothing to do with portraits! Don't stress, relax and I promise you beautiful photos!
Q. I wear glasses, should I wear them during my portrait session?
A. If you wear glasses a majority of the time and generally need them to see- Yes! I'll tell you why, most of your family and friends are used to seeing you in your glasses. Not only that, wearing your glasses will prevent you from having that "squint" look. Most people when they don't wear glasses have to squint to see- if you are used to wearing contacts you'll be fine.If you're worried about reflections on your glasses- I know how to shoot from angles that avoid it.
Q. I'm not photogenic enough/I'm worried about my weight/I have bad skin or wrinkles-would hiring a professional photographer be a waste of money?
A. You are photogenic! You just don't know it yet! Anyone can look beautiful in portraits- they just haven't been shown yet! The beauty of hiring a professional photographer is that my time is specifically devoted to making sure you have beautiful portraits. I will show you how to pose & find your most flattering angles. As far as skin and wrinkles are concerned, I do custom skin touch-ups for smoothing and even-tone at no additional cost to you.
Q. How many photos will I get on disc after my session?
A. For a family shoot of 4-6 people you usually receive about 100-150 high-quality beautiful portraits . For a wedding, the amount of shots you end up with is unlimited anywhere from 600-1000 high resolution photos depending on your package. For a Newborn (baby only) shoot expect about 20-50 high resolution portraits depending upon location.
